Global Alliance Partners We know that to build a global inclusive movement we need to collaborate with partners around the world who can integrate and adapt the global Ocean Generation mindset to make it locally relevant for local communities and people around the world. The Global Alliance Network is a group of NGOs and charities that share a mission to safeguard our Ocean by instigating action and agency. Plastic Oceans Australasia Plastic Oceans Australasia, launched in 2017. They are based in Melbourne Australia, and have been a part of the Ocean Generation (formerly Plastic Oceans) network since 2017. In the past 5 years, we’ve worked together to establish a school’s program reaching children in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Headed by Ricki Hersburgh, the team aim to add their mission and what they do to make an impact on their community and environment, to ultimately safeguard our Ocean. They are addressing the root causes of single use plastic consumption through their comprehensive approach, which is to deliver an easy- to-use pathway for positive systematic behavioural change. How is systematic behavioural change achieved? Plastic Oceans Australia's purpose is to provide information and education, and to conduct research to conserve and protect the natural environment. They do this by: Raising awareness of the problems of plastic waste in the environment Identifying and supporting solutions to reduce the impact of plastic pollution Providing resources in relation to the conversation, improvement and protection of the environment from plastic waste, in particular within businesses and educational institutions Here are just a few accomplishments that have been achieved in the past year: 350% increase in school delivery across Australia with the education program Volunteers and interns worked a combined totals of 4,056 hours Webinars delivered to more than 1,000 people 328% online engagement increase in reach on Facebook 1,806 staff undertaking our EPIC Program 35% increase in stakeholder engagement Delivered the education program to more than 17,500 students You can read more about the impact Plastic Ocean Australia has had this year here.
